Synopsis
Lumumba is a political thriller that tells the story of legendary African leader - Patrice Emery Lumumba. His vision of a "United Africa" earned him powerful enemies, which included the Belgian authorities and the CIA, who also supported Lumumba's former friend, Joseph Mobutu. The film, starring Eriq Ebouaney brilliantly documents Lumumba's rise and rapid fall from power, just 9 months after becoming Congo's first Prime Minister.

This tragic hero of Congolese independence was barely 30 years old, when the first tremors of a botched decolonisation thrust him to the forefront of the international political arena. Within the course of a few years, Lumumba became the most reviled man of this intense cold war period. Becoming Prime Minister of one of the richest countries in Africa - Lumumba's destiny as tragic hero was already charted, his assassination already programmed. He would remain in power for only three months. All that remained for his assassins to do was dispose of his body.
